Underlab, Saving & Fast Travel

Burrow into a save point to reach an Underlab — your bonfire. Heal, refill vials, equip weapons and trinkets, and save. Resting also resets enemies. Fast travel comes from train stations and mirrors.

The Underlab is your bonfire. It’s where you heal, refill, re-equip and save — and like a bonfire, resting there also resets the enemies around you. Get familiar with it; everything between fights routes through here.

Resting heals you and saves your run, but it respawns enemies and resets the map. Don’t expect a cleared path to stay cleared.

What the Underlab does

To reach an Underlab, burrow into one of the save points dotted around Tenebrous Isle. Inside, you can:

  • Heal — step into the water.
  • Refill your Plasma Vials.
  • Swap weapons and equip or unequip trinkets (this is the only place you change your loadout).
  • Save your progress.

You can also upgrade the Underlab to add gear: a map, a training dummy, and a sidearm duplicator/replicator so you can stock the sidearm you want.

Death and the runback

When you die you respawn at an Underlab — usually close to the boss room you were fighting. Sometimes you’ll have a short runback to recover the Bones you dropped. Because resting resets enemies, the path back won’t be empty.

💡 Turn on the Boss Checkpoints modifier in the options to drop an Underlab right next to a boss room. It cuts the runback to nothing — great if a fight is giving you trouble.

Fast travel

Three systems get you around the island:

  • Train stations. There’s one in each major region — Ossex (Bowery), Backwaters (Shanty Swamp), Kindlewood (Farm Crossing), Sandfalls (Sandy Station), and Coltrane Peak (Frigid Station). Donate 10,000 Bones total and you can travel freely between all five. It’s the earliest fast travel you’ll unlock.
  • Mirrors. There are six mirrors scattered around the world (in Radiant Manor, Queensbury Crypt, Bone Beach, Coltrane Peak, Nox’s Bayou and Septemburg). Walk into one for a few seconds to warp to the first area of the Astral Orrery, the floating endgame region.
  • Poppit holes. Find all three Poppit Shop locations and you can hop between the three holes in Grinnsly’s lair.

Getting the map

You don’t start with a map. Rescue Rhene and Drillhardt, then buy the map from Drillhardt’s shop for 500 Bones. For the enhanced map, restore three Spark Generators.

FAQ

How do you save in Mina the Hollower?

Burrow into one of the save points scattered around the world to reach an Underlab. The Underlab is your bonfire — it heals you, lets you equip gear, and saves your progress. Resting there also resets enemies and map conditions.

What is the Underlab?

The Underlab is Mina's safe room. It's where you heal (step in the water), refill Plasma Vials, swap weapons and equip trinkets, and save. You can upgrade it to add a map, training dummy and sidearm duplicator.

How does fast travel work in Mina the Hollower?

There's a train station in each major region. Donate 10,000 Bones total and you can travel freely between all five — the earliest fast travel. Six mirrors also warp you to the Astral Orrery, and three Poppit holes link up once found.

Does resting reset enemies?

Yes. Resting at the Underlab heals you but also respawns enemies and resets map conditions, just like a bonfire in a Souls game. Plan your runback accordingly.

How do you get the map?

Rescue Rhene and Drillhardt, then buy the map from Drillhardt's shop for 500 Bones. For the enhanced map, restore three Spark Generators.
